New Zealand Breakers sharpshooter Hugo Besson is the latest NBL player to make the NBA, after he was drafted to the Milwaukee Bucks with the 58th pick.
After a strong campaign with the Breakers, the flamboyant scorer impressed teams in private workouts and at the combine in the lead-up to the draft.
The Frenchman wasted no time showcasing his scoring ability in the NBL, posting a season-high 26 points against South East Melbourne in round two.
Besson’s explosive offensive talent was on display throughout the entire season, highlighted by a 17-point burst in the third quarter against Perth in March.
The 21-year-old averaged 13.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 25 games for New Zealand.
Milwaukee fans will now get to enjoy Besson’s innate abilities, where he joins a talented roster headlined by Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Besson’s Breakers teammate, Ousmane Dieng, was also drafted today, by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 11th pick. Perth Wildcats star Luke Travers is also off to the Cleveland Cavaliers at pick 56.
