The BNZ Breakers have given a nod to the past with an iconic throwback for this season’s heritage jersey.
The heritage jersey is inspired by the Breakers’ 2010/11 season, which marked the club’s first NBL championship title.
With a star-studded roster including a young Tom Abercrombie, Kirk Penney, CJ Bruton, Mika Vukona, Paul Henare, Dillon Boucher, Gary Wilkinson, Kevin Braswell, Alex Pledger, B.J. Anthony, Corey Webster, Leon Henry and Josh Bloxham, the 2010/11 roster was a blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent led by coach Andrej Lemanis.
The season featured standout performances across the board, culminating in a historic finals series against the Cairns Taipans, sealing the club’s first-ever NBL championship on their home court.
Founded in 2003, the Breakers have gone on to become the most successful New Zealand club in an Australian competition with a record four NBL championships to their name.

Abercrombie, now retired as a legend of the club, said it was amazing to see the jersey make a comeback on the court.
“2010 was a defining moment for the Breakers. It wasn’t just about lifting that trophy - it was about the belief that we could stand toe-to-toe with the best. That spirit continues to fuel the club now,” Abercrombie said.
Abercrombie, a key player in the 2010/11 champion team, feels a strong connection to this season’s heritage kit.
“Wearing this jersey is about connecting to the legacy of those who came before us. It's a tribute to the battles fought to build the Breakers’ legacy and everyone’s shared ambition to keep it going.”
The BNZ Breakers will play in the heritage kit at upcoming games in Christchurch (5 Dec), Wellington (7 Dec) and Auckland (12 Dec).
The jersey will go on sale from 20 November.
