UFC Fighters Join Forces with Breakers for Manuka Doctor All Star Celeb Slam

Undisputed UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya has confirmed his participation in the Manuka Doctor All-Star Celeb Slam at Spark Arena on September 10.

Adesanya will be joined on the hardwood by his City Kickboxing teammates Kai Kara-France and Carlos Ulberg, who also compete in the UFC.

Adesanya admits his basketball experience is limited, but he likes to give back to the community, and in this case, the Make-A-Wish foundation.

"Donating my time is something I can never get back, but I don't mind doing it," he says.

"The best way to give back is anonymous to anonymous or giving behind the scenes, not doing it for the likes; you're just doing it for love, so me giving my time, that's something I can never get back."  

Sky Sport Breakers captain Tom Abercrombie says he gets a lot of enjoyment from giving back to the community.

"In all honesty, we're not doing it for publicity; guys who are doing it for the right reasons don't need that validation.  They're doing it to see the smiles on kid's faces and things like that," he says.

Along with Abercrombie, Finn Delany, Yanni Wetzell, and the Webster brothers attended an MMA training session at City Kickboxing. 

Adesanya was impressed with what he saw from Abercrombie.

"Tom was good; he's got the limbs for really good chokes, and he listened well, I appreciate that."

Adesanya hopes Abercrombie can return him a few favours when they play alongside each other at Spark Arena next month.

"It will be a different kind of pressure," says Adesanya.

"I just want to pass the ball to this guy (Tom), and he can just do his thing."
