"I'm No Gordon Ramsay" Corey Webster Explains Putting A Knife Through His Hand

It will be another three weeks before Shooting Guard Corey Webster will be able to play again after a bizarre injury where he put a knife through his left hand while slicing an avocado.
However, at least he can see the funny side of the accident.
"I'm no Gordon Ramsay obviously," Webster says sheepishly.
"I've severed the nerve that leads down the ring finger, and I have no feeling on the inside."
The gash required surgery and an overnight stay in the hospital, yet despite the lack of sensation in his hand, doctors have told him he should regain the feeling in his finger within three months.
"The funny thing is, when I got back to the hospital after surgery, the cleaners had cleaned up my room, but they had left the avocado on the bench with a knife in it and all the blood still on the avocado; it was pretty funny!
"It should be only another three weeks; sitting on the sideline is always tough; you just want to be out there playing and helping the team get better.
"It's pre-season, and this is when we're supposed to have all the boys working together to get ready so it's frustrating."
Webster is the only player on the roster unable to fully participate in training now that two-time NBL All-Star Lamar Patterson has arrived into Hobart.
He had his first practice with the team last night.
"It's awesome to have Lamar here and out of quarantine," says Webster.
"Obviously, it would be a struggle for anyone sitting in quarantine by themselves for two weeks, so he's happy to be with the boys.
"I've played against Lamar for a few years now, I played against him in China maybe three or four years ago and we've had some good battles in the NBL.
"He's a superstar player in this league so we're thrilled to have him here, and we are looking forward to playing this season alongside him."
