One of New Zealand’s newest NBL franchises, the EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls, will host the Sky Sport Breakers against the Illawarra Hawks in Pukekohe on May 28.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for Breakers Development Player Isaac Davidson, who has spent the last five months in Australia.
Davidson has played nine games for the Breakers this season – including eight minutes against the two-time defending champion Wildcats in Perth last week, where he scored five points.
The 23-year-old forward suits up for the Bulls in the New Zealand NBL as soon as the Breakers’ season ends next month.
“We value our growing relationship with the Franklin Bulls and the part that Isaac has played in our season,” says Breakers Chief Operating Officer Lisa Edser.
“We hope this game strengthens our bond further as we are committed to supporting teams in the New Zealand basketball league and growing basketball across the country.”
The Bulls showed incredible promise in the NZ-NBL last year, finishing the regular season with an encouraging 7-7 record.
They have made an even brighter start to this, their second season, where they are currently third in league with three wins and two losses.
It is hoped this game between the Breakers and the Hawks delivers further impetus to their season with it hosted at the Bulls’ home venue, ‘The Stockyard’.
“Without a doubt, this will be a special occasion and a once in a lifetime experience for sports fans in Pukekohe,” says EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls Basketball General Manager Scott Kelso.
“As a smaller community, we don’t get these games ever, so it’s incredible to get the support of the Franklin Local Board, our local Business Association, and the managers of the facility. We can’t wait for May 28.
“Being able to host the Sky Sport Breakers in “The Stockyard” is unprecedented and will likely never be repeated.
“I know our home supporters will get behind the boys and show them the passion and support they have shown the Bulls this season! The Stockyard will be pumping!”
Tickets are available from theticketfairy.com from 2 pm today.
