The Manuka Doctor All-Star Celeb Slam is being hailed an overwhelming success with all indications the Sky Sport Breakers will bring it back again next year.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised for Starship Children’s hospital, with an exact tally still to be made.

Naming sponsors Manuka Doctor ensured it would be a huge night when they pledged $406,700 before the game had even tipped off – the cost of a fully equipped ICU room.

Unsung hero of the game was ACT Leader David Seymour, who somehow made a late free-throw to win the game for Team Tom Abercrombie over Team Finn Delany 86-83.

However, the most popular person on the court was undeniably chart-topping sensation Benee, who was named MVP by an online internet poll.

It was no surprise that some of the biggest names in New Zealand sport could adapt to basketball.

Warriors Superstar Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, World Cup winning All Blacks Liam Messam and Julian Savea, Netball Legend Irene van Dyk and double Olympic Gold Medallist Eric Murray all shone.

UFC fighters Kai Kara France and Shane Young were two of the smaller players on the court but proved they had the fitness and ball skills to play long minutes.

Former Silver Fern and TVNZ Broadcaster Jenny-May Coffin also provided one of the highlights of the night, nailing a four-pointer long shot from a specially designed Manuka Doctor logo – to get one of the biggest cheers from the bumper 6212 crowd.

Check your Sky Guide to re-live an incredible night of entertainment.
