Burger King has a long history with the Breakers and are thrilled to continue their longstanding partnership
Burger King, longstanding partner of the BNZ Breakers, has delivered on its commitment as a major sponsor by extending their support for another two years, signing for the NBL 2025 and 2026 seasons.
“Burger King has a long history with the Breakers and we are thrilled to continue our partnership for another exciting season of basketball. Our commitment to the team and its fans remains unwavering, and we look forward to creating more memorable experiences together.” says Bernard Oosthuizen, representing Burger King.
Lisa Edser, CEO of the BNZ Breakers, expressed her delight at the ongoing support, remarking, "Burger King is an integral part of the Breakers family, and we are grateful for their continued partnership. Their support has been instrumental in our success in delivering great entertainment and sporting experiences to our fans and the wider community."
With roots dating back to the team's inception over 20 years ago, Burger King's association with the NBL basketball franchise runs deep. The partnership began when the team was founded, evolving to becoming the naming rights partner in 2009. And whilst the Burger King Breakers are no more, the partnership between the two brands remains strong.
In addition to prominently displayed branding on the team's uniforms, Burger King has demonstrated innovation and dedication to engage fans and has actively participated in enhancing the game day experience, exemplified by initiatives such as BK90 and Crown Cam.
A fan-favourite promotion, BK90 rewards ticketholders with a free Whopper Jr. at any Burger King restaurant when the Breakers score 90+ points at home games. This initiative has resonated strongly with fans, with 15,172 Whopper Jr. burgers being claimed since launch at the beginning of the NBL23 season in September 2022.
Furthermore, Burger King has sought to make the courtside experience more accessible for fans. Crown Cam rewards two crown-wearing fans with courtside seat upgrades at each game, offering an unforgettable view of the action - consequently, the iconic Burger King crowns have become a fixture at BNZ Breakers games. Unsurprisingly, surveys indicate a strong brand recall and consumer intent, with 94% of fans recognising Burger King as a sponsor.
As Burger King renews its sponsorship with the BNZ Breakers, both parties look forward to another season of collaboration, excitement, and success.
