The BNZ Breakers are set to return to home court this Saturday when they host the Adelaide 36ers at Spark Arena.
With a scintillating start to the season which sees him in at the top of the race for NBL25 MVP, co-captain Parker Jackson-Cartwright can’t wait for the challenge.
Jackson-Cartwright is currently the league leader for assists per game (7.83), fourth for points per game (18.67) and third for steals (2.33).
This Saturday PJC and his Breakers face the Adelaide 36ers, who are off to a strong start with a well-rounded roster along with the inclusion of physical powerhouse Montrezl Harrell.
“They have strong guard play and a beast inside,” Jackson-Cartwright said.
“They are going to present a lot of challenges for us and be physical on the boards. We have to play great transition and one-on-one defence. That’s going to be big in this game.”
“With Montrezl - I really appreciate his competitiveness. He’s going to bring it, and that brings out the best in everyone else. Iron sharpens iron.”
Alongside Harrell, Adelaide’s Kendric Davis and Dejan Vasiljevic offer scoring threats that will keep the Breakers on alert.
The Breakers are coming off an impressive road win over the Sydney Kings, which saw players step up across the court.
In particular, the backcourt duo of Jackson-Cartwright and Matt Mooney lit up for a combined 45 points, including seven three pointers.
“Matt Mooney is a star in his role and his own right. He’s been a pro for a minute now. He has that pedigree and is really tough. We have great chemistry - we play off each other and just gel really well.
“It’s a joy to play with these guys, and everyone brings something different both on and off the floor. It’s cool to wake up every day and play with a group of guys you genuinely like, and to play for a coaching staff that believes and trusts in you.”
The BNZ Breakers host the Adelaide 36ers at Spark Arena in Auckland this Saturday night, with live coverage on ESPN and free-to-air on Duke and TVNZ+.
