BNZ BREAKERS INTERNALLY FOCUSED AHEAD OF 36ERS CLASH

The BNZ Breakers are staying focused on themselves and respecting, not obsessing about the opposition as they prepare to play Adelaide 36ers on the road tomorrow (Sunday, 7pm tip NZT).
Sitting two from two with both losses coming on the road, Assistant Coach Sebastian Gleim referenced a continued need to improve every day as the team embarks on the first of five consecutive road games over the month of October.
“The focus is to take the good things we improved in the last home game, bring them here on the away court and through our sessions in Adelaide. The goal is to get better every day and be better tomorrow on court,” said Gleim.
“We made really good improvements in the home game in the Ignite Cup, and we were close twice on the away court to get wins, tomorrow we will finally do it and win on the away court.”
Not that Adelaide is completely out of mind, with some obvious names coming up in the Breakers scout.
“First of all, it is a team sport, five on five, sure they have in Bryce Cotton an outstanding star of the league. But more important is our unit, our team and taking care of our jobs on the court – that is the most important.”
There is recent history between the clubs, with the BNZ Breakers knocking over the more fancied 36ers in the IGNITE Cup final in February and the off-season signing of DJ Vasiljevic who played in that game for the 36ers.
Recent signing Mojave King is another to have worn the 36ers singlet and brings up a milestone in Sunday’s game, the BNZ Breakers wing is set to play his 100th NBL game, something that was acknowledged within the group ahead of the game and caught the 24-year-old by surprise.
“No, I didn’t know, you lose track after a little while, but it is definitely exciting, it is a big milestone and something to be proud of. I am looking forward to putting up a competitive game in my 100th,” said King at the final practice in Adelaide.
“It is always good to play against a former team. I still have close relationships from my time out here, relationships I hold dearly today, so it is going to be good to play in front of those people for my 100th.”
