He’s already New Zealand’s all-time games-record holder, but Tom Abercrombie could be set to reach another magical mark in NBL24.

Abercrombie is just one game away from the 400-game milestone, and ESPN’s Olgun Uluc believes a new deal is on the cards for the 35-year-old.

“There’s a very good chance he does (play again),” Uluc said on The Marketplace.

“I’m told that the Breakers and Tom Abercrombie’s people have begun negotiations for a potential return.”

Abercrombie has played an incredible 15 seasons at the Breakers, winning four Championships, a Grand Final MVP and countless other honours.

“There’s really no universe that he plays anywhere else other than New Zealand,” Uluc added.

“The talks of him potentially retiring are understandable given his age, given 399 games, but negotiations are underway, so it’s more than likely he’ll be returning for at least one more season in New Zealand.”

Abercrombie has been the model of consistency since his first NBL game back in 2008,  averaging 10.8 points and 4.4 rebounds. He is New Zealand’s all-time leading scorer by more than 1,000 points.

New Zealand will be looking to go one better in NBL24, after finishing runners-up this season.
